Our Mission:

Offer high-quality fundamentals-focused Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling based Anti-Bullying and Self-Defense curriculum in a family and youth oriented space. Our goal is to foster positive changes in the communities we serve here in East Grays Harbor County, while supporting our members in meeting their individualized goals.

HBJJ offers kids, adults, and families structured classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, NoGi Submission Grappling, Striking, and Self-Defense. Our schedule, located below, also includes unstructured Workshop sessions available where students can get Q&A time with instructors, drilling time with partners, and unstructured sparring rounds with teammates.

We also offer private lessons, small group instruction, and individualized training for members and non-members. For employers and agencies HBJJ offers purpose built courses in team building and employment specific workflows tuned for civilian, law enforcement, and military requirements. HBJJ is also proud to be partnered with the We Defy Foundation as an Approved Training Facility and help further their mission to provide combat veterans coping with military connected disabilities a long term means to overcome their challenges through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and fitness training. In this size limited Youth Fundamentals class we will focus on giving our youngest members the opportunity to come on the mat and start learning the core movements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling. 

Students from 2-5 years old will get their first exposures to structured learning in a martial arts program and practice with appropriate behaviors around their peers, all while having fun in a games focused class. 

This class will also include anti-bullying skills such as breakfalls, technical standups, and other basics to help bully proof your kiddos.

This class has a very limited number of spaces available, call/text/email or talk to a coach to find out more details.

This Adult Fundamentals ("Fundies") Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class curriculum is targeted for beginners while still being helpful for our more advanced students.

Using ecological and focused drilling approaches students will get coaching on the fundamentals, gaining an understanding of what makes techniques work and how to connect them into usable sequences for both sparring and self-defense.

*Adult 60 minute classes have a bow out at 60 minutes, with no scheduled 30 minutes dedicated to instructor Q&A, drilling, and sparring.

Start your day off right with some Jiu-Jitsu in your cup! Members are welcome to bring and share coffee, tea, and morning treats.

Using ecological and focused drilling approaches students will get coaching on the fundamentals, gaining an understanding of what makes techniques work and how to connect them into usable sequences for both sparring and self-defense.

*Adult 60 minute classes have a bow out at 60 minutes, with no scheduled 30 minutes dedicated to instructor Q&A, drilling, and sparring.

This Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class curriculum is appropriate for beginners and advanced students alike.

Using ecological and focused drilling approaches students will focus on the fundamentals, gaining an understanding of what makes techniques work and how to connect them into usable sequences for both sparring and self-defense.

*Adult 90 minute classes have a bow out at 60 minutes to allow students with time constraints the opportunity to depart, with the remaining 30 minutes dedicated to instructor Q&A, drilling and sparring.

*While this class is focused on no-gi and competition preparation, all students are welcome to attend and it is a gi-optional class.

This No-Gi Youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class is be open to students with at least one stripe, or with prior permission from the class coach. The curriculum will focus on wrestling fundamentals and No-Gi specific techniques.

The Adult Self-Defense class curriculum is open to all Adult HBJJ students and Women's Group members. These sessions will focus on Self-Defense fundamentals as we connect techniques into functional responses for real-world self-defense scenarios. (Please dress appropriately, either No-Gi or athletic apparel, no metal or jewelry).

*Adult 60 minute classes have a bow out at 60 minutes, with no scheduled 30 minutes dedicated to instructor Q&A, drilling, and sparring.

This Adult No-Gi class curriculum is open to all HBJJ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students. The class will translate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Catch-Wrestling techniques to create sequences from standing to the ground, for submission grappling applications usable in both no-gi and gi.

Using ecological and focused drilling approaches students will focus on the fundamentals, gaining an understanding of what makes techniques work and how to connect them into usable sequences for both sparring and self-defense.

*Adult 90 minute classes have a bow out at 60 minutes to allow students with time constraints the opportunity to depart, with the remaining 30 minutes dedicated to drilling and sparring.

A "Favorite Things" seminar with mini sessions taught by some of the amazing people we've had the privilege to share this path with.

This seminar is open to current and former students, their families, and visitors who have signed the current HBJJ waiver. Youth attendees 13 and younger must get prior approval from a HBJJ instructor before attending.
